2020 Reflection

2020 What A year!!

Wow, 2020 has been a tough year to say the least. Term one and two was just a shambles with all our different teachers, there was not much learning at all. And with Covid when we were back at school there were no sports or leaving school grounds. But stuff started to get better in term three when whaea Lana came back and we got back into a routine. Now it is fun because now we do fun stuff like lots of sport, technology, trips and we have more to come. Something that challenged me was maths; it definitely isn't my strong point. I want to do more sports and go on more fun trips. I was involved with almost every out of class activity. I’m proud of myself for trying my best in my academic learning and sports.

RIPPA RUGBY

 RIPPA RUGBY...

This term a rippa rugby team was put together to represent K.C.S in a rippa tournament at the Kaikohe rugby club. Thank you to Komene (our coach,) the people who came to support us and the people who hosted the event. I enjoyed it because it was a chance to get out of class and do something I really love. I think what helped our team succeed was our moves and the fact that we had a healthy supply of subs. I think I could’ve improved on getting my rips because I was missing quite a few.

Our Coding Trip

This term our class went to Waitangi treaty grounds to learn about coding. It was a good way of learning about coding and we had loads of fun.

Diving

This is a recount about my holiday. I am on level six in my writing and working on being consistent with sophisticated punctuation. HOPE YOU ENJOY:)

Diving

It was an early Sunday morning, The boat engine coughed, spluttered then roared into life, “Off we go!” yelled my uncle as we zoomed across the ocean surface. I was like a child on Christmas day. “this is gonna be fun ” I mumbled.

As we flew across the ocean I couldn't help but think how fun it is gonna be, but, little did I know it was gonna be everything but that.  A few minutes later we got to our super secret family spot. Right as we got there the wind picked up the waves got bigger and the sky went grey; it was like mother nature was taunting me. But my determination to get in and help bring back a feed for the Whanau trumped the fact that the water was going to be absolutely freezing.

I went rummaging through all the bits and bobs in the cabin then froze as if I was looking into the eyes of Medusa- “I forgot my dive gear!” “Typical,” my uncle said as he shook his head in disappointment. But still, I wanted to get in, I hoped to get in, I needed to get in the water. There was only one option left, I had to use a girls wetsuit. So I sucked it up and slipped it on, finally it was time to get in. SPLASH! The more the water submerged my body the more I was starting to freeze. “Brrrrrrr” The coldness was so overwhelming words could barely describe it.

As I was swimming around I noticed the Kina were microscopic could this trip get any worse? I thought to myself. So after lots and lots of searching I found about twenty decent size kina; All that work and I only had twenty Kina to show for it, I didn’t want to disappoint everyone so I ignored the fact that it felt like my feet felt like they were about to drop off. I was swimming around the shallows and suddenly got this feeling, a feeling that I couldn't ignore, it felt as if something was watching me... And something was, I dove down to check a cray hole when suddenly two massive monstrous majestic stingrays gilded graciously upwards towards me they got so close I could touch it. I knew that if I made one false move I would end up like Steve Urwin.

“I’m over this,” I thought to myself I used the last of my energy to swim back to the boat. I thought the trip couldn't possibly get worse...Not! Turns out I had hypothermia. my hands went blue like a smurf. My uncle got back not long after, shocked at the sight of my hands and insisted we went home. I agreed eagerly and drove the boat ashore, packed up and went home. “Glad that's over” I mumbled.

In summary, today was not the best, I got hypothermia, I nearly did a Steve Urwin and got bugger all Kinas. but I guess it could have been worse.

Ring Of Invisibility...

In class, we are exploring integrity. In this thought experiment, we will explore from a biblical perspective.
