Cool Kiwi

 After dinner on the beach, as the moon came out from behind the hills we had karakia. As we were doing karakia you could hear the calls of the Kiwi in the bush not far away from us. It was cool being out there listening to the kiwi. Unfortunately, I didn't see one but I still had heaps of fun anyway just getting to hear them in the bush was good enough for me.

 

Narrative Self-Assessment...

 This is a self-assessment of my narrative below; It shows what I think about my writing. 

 

My Narrative...

 My class and I have been learning how to write a good narrative. I think I did alright in writing it but what was pretty challenging was trying to explain all the things I wanted to put in the story. We were learning about Kupe and how he got here so the theme for the story had to be an adventure. 

Eren’s Great Adventure        
 

The sea was flat and the wind was calm; the ship creaked as it pulled away from the dock, the wind caught the sails and they took off leaving the harbour of Shiganshina. The fearless captain of the ship, Levi Ackerman, laid out the plan-  to sail close to shore, take soundings and map out the land. The island of Marley was uninhabited, 900km off the coast of Maria. The horizon welcomed them as they sailed further and further away from the mainland. Eventually, Marley was in sight.

 “Captain Levi! We are closing in on the island!” Announced Eren Jaeger (Levi’s trusty sidekick). “Ready the anchor!” captain Levi ordered. The sails rolled up and the slow glide came to a halt. “Drop it!” Yelled the captain. The cartographers started on the maps and the crew took the soundings. “Eren!” called the captain, “there's something in the…” Silence spread throughout the boat. Thud! “CAPTAIN!!” Screeched Eren. He rushed over to Levi. With the captain's last breath he whispered desperately; “Get yourself and my crew out of here.” Blood spilt out of the bullet hole in his chest staining his shirt dark red, he was losing blood fast, Eren said goodbye then life left his eyes. Time stood still. The ship was suddenly hit by a barrage of cannon shots; but Eren didn't notice, he just stood there “Rest easy old friend” mumbled Eren. The crew was running around like headless chickens, “what do we do!?” A crewmate yelped, “we’re goners without the captain!” More cannonballs hurdled towards the ship knocking out all communication to the mainland destroying all hopes of being saved.

 The ship moaned, seawater gushed in as it started to descend below the ocean surface. The enemy ship was close now, so close Eren could hear the aggressive yells of the crewmembers. “This is what you get for entering our land!” Screeched one of them “I thought Marley was uninhabited?” Eren thought to himself. Pack, pack, pack the crew was dropping like flies, more and more cannon shots hit the boat, it sank further and further until it was nearly fully submerged. The enemy boat pulled up by the ship, Eren was standing still in shock “I've gotta do something, but what?” he thought, one hundred million things were going through his mind. There were 10 of them vs Eren. He drew his sword that was holstered on his hip and rushed at them slicing and dicing his way to the captain. He ducked, swerved and dodged all the enemies' attacks returning them with fatal counter strikes. Eren was slimming the numbers down to 4 vs 1, 3 vs 1, 2 vs 1 then 1 vs 1.

 

Tensions rose; it was just Eren and Zeke, (the enemy captain). Zeke looked into Eren’s enraged ocean blue eyes, “Come on Eren” called Zeke, “drop your sword and let’s have a real fight” Eren took a deep breath and dropped his sword, “that's better, let’s see what you got short stuff” Zeke said confidently. Eren ran at him. He grabbed Zeke's arm with one hand, pulled it out straight then struck his arm with his elbow. SNAP! “Argh!” Zeke cried, “That ones for the captain” Eren roared with anger building up inside him. Zeke dropped to his knees holding his arm in agony. Eren took a step back and reverse roundhouse kicked Zeke in the head “And that one's for the crew.” Zeke smirked as he got back on his feet he made a fist and raised his hand in the air then his smirk turned into a high pitch cackle “End of the line for you short stuff!” He exclaimed; suddenly a man with a gun popped up out of the crow’s nest of Zeke’s ship… Bang! Eren stumbled backwards before falling onto his back. “Let’s get outta here” Zeke uttered, “later short stuff,” he mumbled, he kicked Eren into overboard. Eren took his last breath before hitting the water, it was calm as he sank further and further down, down before falling into an eternal sleep.        

        

The sun reflected off the flat glistening sea, the wind was quiet and calm as if nothing even happened.

Summarizing Strategy...

My class and I have been learning to summarize. Summarizing is just putting all the main ideas of a text or paragraph into a nutshell. I think I can pretty confidently summarize without any help. It is pretty easy to do once you know it but takes some effort to learn it.      

The Battle Of Kororareka

 We are learning about the battle of Kororareka. This slide shows when it happened, why it happened, where it happened, what the article is about, who was involved and other things I found interesting. I find this really interesting and hope to find out more about the topic.   

 

People Of The Past...

We are learning about important people that played a big role in our past. We made a booklet full of people and write facts and key aspects of them so we can quiz other people. I want to quiz the smartest people I know. I also want to find out more about chief Kawiti.
